Types of Fostering

Fostering until the dog is adopted (Long-Term Foster)

Chances are the dogs that we rescue have had to adjust to a new environment at least once (i.e. from previous owner to being a stray, from previous owner to a shelter, from previous owner to us, etc).. Therefore, to minimize the number of times each dog has to adjust to new environments and minimize the anxiety that a dog feels when adjusting to a new environment, we prefer that our fosters foster each dog until it is adopted. This can be months to years.

Foster-To-Adopt

We understand that sometimes as you’re fostering a dog, you fall so much in love with the dog and the dog is adapting so well to your home and family that you would like the dog to be a part of your family forever. This is awesome news for us, for you and for the dog! Since you have fostered the dog with us prior to adoption, you will have priority over other potential adopters and will not be required to complete the adoption application. However, you will still be required to pay the adoption fee.

Vacation Foster

When our long-term fosters need to be away from their homes on vacation or any other reason, we work with the fosters to find a vacation foster home for the dog until the long-term foster is back in town- so this can be as short as a weekend or 2 weeks. If our vacation fosters fall so much in love with the dog and want the dog to be a part of their family forever, the vacation fosters can adopt the dog with priority over other potential adopters and will not be required to complete the adoption application. However, vacation fosters will still be required to pay the adoption fee in this case.
